Winemakers Talk Harvest and Their Favorite California Wines | Today: Crooked Vine and Stony Ridge Winery
In honor of California Wine Month, we’re sitting down with different winemakers throughout Livermore Valley and asking them to tell us about themselves, the harvest and of course, their favorite wines! Today we’re sitting down with the winemaker from Crooked Vine and Stony Ridge Winery.
Firstly, tell us a little about yourself…
If you weren’t a winemaker, what would you be?
I’d be the female Rick Steves! I love to travel and he seems like he has it all.
Are you a California Native? Where did you grow up?
Yes, and a Livermore native, at that. I grew up here!
Where is your favorite place to be in California?
I don’t have one favorite place, which is why California is such a great state, but I have always felt at home in Santa Cruz, Monterey and the Bay Area. Both my husband and I lived there for a time when we were just starting out away from our parents, so there are a lot of epic memories there. It’s great to have it so close that we can visit more than once a year.
And now on to harvest…
Favorite thing about the grape harvest?
The sights, smells, and tastes of ripe and fermenting grapes with the backdrop of Autumn. Also, just when things go as planned.
Least favorite thing about the grape harvest?
Trying to juggle everything in the crazy busy month of harvest.
Any predictions for this year?
Fingers crossed for no surprises!
Lastly, wine…
What is your favorite Livermore Valley wine?
2015 Crooked Vine Viognier
What is your favorite Livermore Valley wine that you didn’t make?
Don’t have one favorite, but I recently drank some of the 2016 Steven Kent Vin Gris of Grenache and loved it!
