Taste Our Terroir is less than two weeks away and I am excited. Why am I so excited? To put it in one word, Taste Our Terroir is awesome, inspiring, delicious, worth-throwing-your-diet-out-the-window fun! Ok, so maybe I can’t exactly describe why I love Taste Our Terroir in one word, but here are some of the things I’m looking forward to in next week’s event.

Tasting wine from a barrel is a rare opportunity that anyone can step out of the role of wine taster and peek into what it is to be a winemaker. Winemakers taste from the barrel not only to check if it is ready for bottling, but also to make sure nothing is spoiled, or when they are considering which wines to blend together.
Rumor has it that beer and football are the perfect pair, but have you ever thought about how football and wine tasting are similar? I know, it sounds ludicrous! One features pads, balls, and wrestling on a field while the other is the essence of class and sophistication, but hear me out.
This is my favorite time of year. Sure, there’s the craziness of kids going back to school and gearing up for the holidays, but one quick drive through the vineyards and everything seems to just calm down. I love that the grapes are so ripe you can actually smell them; your own little preview into the wines that they are going to become.
