We all have our favorite wines and the reasons we love them. In honor of Chardonnay Week, we gathered seven wineries to hear their reasons as to why they love Chardonnay. Whether or not you agree with them, they all agree that you should taste as many different versions to determine which is your favorite. But until you do, here are their thoughts on Chardonnay:

This spring is so different from last year! The hills are a beautiful green, we’ve enjoyed a few summer-like days, and no one is frantically begging and pleading with the skies to bring us rain. The vineyards are coming alive as well as we see the first signs of bud break. What is bud break? It’s when the dormant bud opens and the shoot begins to grow. Essentially, it’s our first sight of this year’s crop.
There’s a new event on March 25th and 26th and I for one could not be more thrilled. Barrels, Bottles & Brews is replacing Barrel Tasting Weekend because the wineries invited some of their friends to join in the festivities. If you didn’t know, Livermore Valley has seen an influx of breweries and distilleries over the past few years and some winemakers have even tried their hand at brewing and distilling. Barrels, Bottles & Brews will be two days where you can get outside, enjoy the spring weather and sample wines, beers and spirits.
Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and if you’re like me, you’ve dropped the ball on getting a present for that special someone OR you just want to treat yourself to something special. Livermore Valley’s take on a quintessential California wine grape
There is a briskness in the air as fall marches on and it’s the perfect time to spice things up in wine country. In November, Livermore Valley highlights Zinfandel as the featured varietal. This bold and classic varietal is the number one planted grape in California.
The primary flavors include jam, blueberry, cherry, plum, boysenberry, cranberry and licorice. Other aromas you may be able to pick out are black pepper, black cardamom and anise. Tannins and acid are generally medium to medium high.
The long days of summer and harvest are coming to a close. The vines are turning vibrant fall colors and this is the perfect time to get out and enjoy Livermore Valley.
